[Ffmpeg-devel] streamer vs. ffmpeg

When I capture video with ffmpeg, The video has what I
call a "spline effect" -- interlocking horizontal
lines that don't always line up. Typically, the parts
of the image that are moving.

I figured this was just part of the compression.

I noticed that "streamer" by Gerd Knorr, (that comes
with xawtv) does not have the same effect.

(I did use the combfilter option that is mentioned
regarding bttv, if that has any effect).

Has anyone else seen this?

I have some examples I can upload, if necessary.

At at least one particular image size, streamer gives
a pretty smooth looking picture, where ffmpeg does
not.

Any insight on this?

Thanks.

Piero.
