which standard mentions mp4v and mp4a ? (if its not mentioned in a official
document it really is not the same ...)
m4v, m2v are MPEG4/2-ES, .mpeg is MPEG-PS (.mpg short for 7.3 limited OSs),
mp4 is iso hacked quicktime, mp3 is mpeg audio layer 3 ES
these are totally seperate formats

Many things microsoft did are stupid, but not doing something just because
