The patch worked, but ffmpeg still doesn't recognize the png format. I
used the latest SVN version, and libpng is also available on my system.
Here's the exact error which I get:

$ ffmpeg -f image2 -i 02350.png

Did you modify anything else besides libavformat/mp3.c?
