  Really ? I though that the spec required different quantization (JPEG-like)
  and different bit distribution techniques to be used. 

  I guess the criteria I've been using for distinguishing between a DV 
  CODEC and just a DV CODEC variation is: whether you have to make non trivial
  changes bellow dv_decode_video_segmet/dv_encode_video_segmet level.

  The impression I got from your thorough assessment of DV100 back
  in December was that such non trivial changes would be required. 

  Could you, clarify a bit, please ?
