Just my 2 cents, I think it is bad. I think that ffmpeg code is really
clean because of that current developpement policy and it should really
stay this way.

It is always better to have maintainer approval before the changes,
to have another voice behind you, and maybe just to enforce him to keep
tracking of modifications on the files he is maintaining.
