Actually it's very good that they don't, since ELF sucks and the
prevelance of a new non-ELF system ensures that people won't let too
many ELF-isms creep into their build systems.

Yes before you say anything, the Mac format is much worse than ELF. :)
But the advantage is that it will discourage people from assuming one
universal binary format.
