I posted a patch for for avio.c on 2006-01-03, look for 
av_register_protocol in subject. I would not say it's important - just 
that I did not get any feedback for it.

AFAIK the 'libavcodec is in libavformat' problem for the Mingw 
shared-lib build is still there. I would say that one is serious enough.
