Nice false dichotomy there. Not biting, though.

Simply put, engineering is about trade-offs, not perfect solutions. 
We've chosen the set of trade-offs for FFmpeg that we're comfortable 
with. That involves not directly support Microsoft operating systems.

However, I always wonder: Why does anyone care about using FFmpeg on 
Microsoft operating systems? Their OSes should already have all kinds of 
support for encoding/decoding, muxing/demuxing every kind of format. 
We're interested in making FFmpeg work well on Unix-like operating systems.
