Hello,

Well, let me explain something about this topic, though currently
I'm not an active mplayer developer any more (and I always had
got more ideas than free time to do it ....).

First, I don't think that bottleneck of the development process
is the CVS in MPlayer development currently. As far as I see,
there're more serious problem with the development today, which
is about the organization and release engineering and not the
version controll software itself.

Sure, SubVersion gives a "modern CVS", with avoiding some brain
damage of CVS (which is very old stuff), but that's all. If you
want to help the distributed development you whould use something
which is more suitable for this, like GIT (with or without cogito
fronted), hg/mercurial, arch or something similar which has got
some _new_ ideas as well, since svn is the same as cvs only the
implementation is better but nothing changed in the theory about
their functions.

Sure, my opintion can be ignored :) And anyway I like svn much
more than CVS, I only wanted to say that this is not the problem
which make hard developing mplayer ;) IMHO and AFAIK.

So if the question is only about prefering svn over cvs, I will
say "yes". But that's not all ...

Thanks for your time :)
