Hello,

There's obviously no consensus on this subject.  I suppose it's been brought 
up before, but just in case:

Would changing to subversion for the ffmpeg repository give everyone what they 
want?  Because subversion tracks trees rather than files, there would be no 
need to create "releases" or tags.  Every single checkin would implicitly be 
tagged simply from it's revision number.

Then given the two facts:
* The latest revision is always the best
* Some people want a "release"
Simply announce the revision on a particular day as being the "release".
