How often to sync can be a matter of discussion/manpower.
ffmpeg_acl is/was synced according to the release cycles of libquicktime
and gmerlin, but there might be a need to do it more often.
It should be noted, that both gmerlin and libquicktime work well with the
upstream ffmpeg (an autoconf macro decides, which one to use).
So people are free to do it the "official" way (use a CVS checkout), or
simply install an rpm or tgz.

I can remember searching for a bug for a long time until I noticed, that
I used 2 libraries, which included different ffmpeg versions.
