hi,

what is your positions with regard to switching the build system from
the hand build configure + Makefile system to using autotools?
this would be a good step to integrate some tools that are good for
release management and automatic testing, but also allow for better
configuration.

gstreamer currently maintains such a patch at 
http://cvs.freedesktop.org/gstreamer/mirror/ffmpeg/patches/autotools.patch?view=markup

if there is interest to integrate this into cvs i will try to update 
the patch so it applies to current cvs and add missing things if needed.

what do you think?
