For them, a lot: a lot of their filters can not deal with filter_frames at a
random time, and therefore need a FIFO filter before them to handle things
for them. That also means it is ridiculously easy to get avconv to eat all
available memory.

For ffmpeg, nothing useful, except for using the few filters coming from
them that have the problem (git grep needs_fifo).
