Maybe I miss something, but what would be the point of that?
It would be pretty hard to miss the fact that configure is executed,
and its huge output would hide the message anyway.
And after incorporating your comment there's still

4. Print a warning and ridiculously sleep for a few seconds then carry on.

Ok, configure is probably slow enough that the sleep doesn't
really change anything I guess.
