I just sat down and split the commit down to a finer level of granularity.
This took considerable effort (>1 hour) when the initial mechanical update
was two orders of magnitude faster.  I'm not convinced that this was a net
win, since the update was done mechanically, is easy to repeat and this
configuration file has not seen much detailed scrutiny before.

Nonetheless the end result is of course nicer, so please accept this as
the sign of goodwill it was meant to be.
