sounds good if i understood correctly.
adding a PIX_FMT_GENERIC to libavutil/pixfmt.h
(marking this as PIX_FMT_USE_DESCRIPTOR in pixdesc.c though this seems
not essential)
adding a AVPixFmtDescriptor *pix_fmt_desc to AVCodecContext that either
points to the table from pixdesc.c or is a custom pixfmtdesc
[...]
