I am almost certain the swscale changes were what fixed the regression
tests on PPC with gcc 4.3.x.  That version suffers from an
auto-vectoriser bug, which I previously discovered on ARM, that was
triggered by some code libswscale.  I haven't checked, but I suspect
those lines have been removed by Kostya.  The attached file can be
used to demonstrate the bug.
