No, and there is no way to make that happen, without rewriting the
entire tree history forwards of the change, thus causing hell for
anyone who has cloned the tree. In git, the commit message is
considered part of the commit, and the sha1 checksum that identifies a
revision includes the message. The reasons for this are explained in
the git documentation or elsewhere on the web.
