yes, and?
the mpeg-ps/ts tables only support a few codecs, if they would support
as many as avi we could use them, we could also take the mov tables
instead of avi, but that would not change anything
or _you_ could make a table with all codecs which have a fourcc in avi
and give each of them a different fourcc for nut then _you_ can maintain
this table until arrival of godot, that would work too but there are
2 questions
1. why? theres no advanatge just more work and a redundant table
2. why exactly choose different fourccs and not take the ones from
   avi?

the whole is a beautifull example of NIH syndrom, and iam sick of it
you have not provided a _single_ actual issue just always the same
"you do X", "Y is needed", ... but no word beyond why X or Y are good
or bad or what consequences they would have ...
