No, that's not too much pain. I added the following compile options to 
the build scripts:

   export CFLAGS="$CFLAGS -g -O1"
   export CXXFLAGS="$CXXFLAGS -g -O1"

rebuilt the packages and installed them. Here is the resulting back trace:
