I don't have any of your option lines in /etc/modules.conf - are they
necessary? Give it a try without them.

I also have a ".asoundrc" file in my home directory that contains the
following lines:

pcm.intel8x0 {
type hw
card 0
}

ctl.intel8x0 {
type hw
card 0
}

You use a global configuration file /etc/asound.conf which I don't have at
all. I'd rename the global config file and use the small user-specific one I
just listed above. Or use both... the user-specific one will overwrite some
of the global parameters I guess.
