[MPlayer-users] encrypted dvds II

For me there is no confusion.

If mplayer is compiled from source, it has mpdvdkit compiled in by default.

If he gets rpm's from somewhere, dvd decrypting may or may not work
depending
on the packager's decisions.

Lets imagine the following scenario:

he gets mplayer without mpdvdkit, and his system has libdvdread installed.
he will be able to play only unencrypted DVD's.
there is nothing to be puzzled about.

That was why I asked when did he got mplayer from.

But that's exactly what he is so puzzled about! libdvdread from mpdvdkit
reports for some reason that there is no support to play enchrypted
DVD's which is weird. Then, he went and installed the dvd libs
separately and made mplayer use them.

To the original poster: When you switch back to the default case, i.e.
using mpdvdkit and run

ldd `which mplayer`

What does it report?
