I downloaded and compiled MPlayer 0.90 rc3. Whenever I try to play a video
file, I get output similar to the following:
*****
Playing 386dx.mpeg
Searching demuxer type for filename 386dx.mpeg ext: .mpeg

!!! trying demuxer 2 based on filename extension
Falling back on trying to parse playlist 386dx.mpeg...
============ Sorry, this file format is not recognized/supported =============
=== If this file is an AVI, ASF or MPEG stream, please contact the author! ===

*****

I have attached the full text of mplayer's output to this mail.

Similar output is displayed for any file I try. It doesn't matter if it is
an .avi (tried several codecs), .asf or .mov file.

Has anyone seen similar output to this before?

Thanks,

Chris J.
