[MPlayer-users] Mencoder encoding error

Recently, in the newer CVS versions of mplayer/mencoder (also occurs in 
the pre2 and pre3 releases), when encoding a movie I get the following 
error message:

Could not open codec.
FATAL: Cannot initialize video driver.

The encoding itself finishes, but the error message persists. Sometimes 
it happens 20 or more times in a row, and sometimes only a couple of 
those show up during the entire encoding process.
What could this mean?
